Taiwan Lishan Tea (梨山茶)
Lishan, also known as Pear Mountain, is one of the highest and most esteemed tea-growing regions in Taiwan and the world. This premium high-mountain oolong tea is celebrated for its buttery and floral aromas, along with a smooth, naturally sweet aftertaste. Its command of top-tier prices is attributed to limited yields and the remote, pristine terroir in which it is cultivated.
Brewing Guidelines
To unlock the complex layers of Lishan Oolong:
- Water Temperature: Just off the boil, around 90°C to 100°C.
- Ratio: Use a generous amount of leaf to water, roughly 5g per 100ml.
- Steeping Time: Start with a quick 25-30 second steep, then add 5 to 10 seconds for each subsequent infusion. High-quality Lishan can easily be steeped 6 to 8 times.
